FAQ

  • What is the difference between therapy, counseling, and story work?

Therapy and counseling are interchangeable words for the same thing; the development of a safe, therapeutic relationship where you can process your pain and experience healing and change. Story work consulting is more time-constrained and focused particularly on making sense of your story and how it translates into your calling. The more structured format is curriculum based and includes assigned reading and writing. Learn more here.

  • What does the counseling/therapy process look like?

Counseling is a collaborative process in which we will discuss where you are in life and what you hope to experience in our work together. I will help you look more deeply at the issues that may be beneath the surface of what you are currently facing. My goal is to create a safe and confidential environment where trust can be built and healing and change can happen.

  • Do you take insurance and how much does it cost?

For traditional counseling services, I am unable to take insurance at this time. My rate per 50-minute counseling session is $130. This rate is the same for virtual and in person sessions. Click here for story work pricing.

  • Do you offer reduced rates for those who are in need of financial assistance?

While I believe that the counseling process is a worthwhile investment, I know that there are circumstances that may prevent individuals from being able to pay full price. My goal is to make mental health care accessible for as many individuals as possible. I do have some availability for clients who are only able to pay a reduced rate.

  • How long will I be in therapy?

The length of your journey in counseling depends on the particular issues you are facing and what your goals are for the healing process. There is a wide range of length of time in counseling, from 3 months to over a year. 6-9 months of weekly or bi-weekly sessions is an average timeframe.

  • Do you offer counseling from a Christian perspective?

I look forward to providing care for clients from a variety of cultures. My beliefs allow me to view all of my clients with compassion and dignity, regardless of their religious background. However, I have received clinical training that incorporates both theological and psychological perspectives. If you are eager to incorporate your faith and religious views into your healing process, I am happy to do so.

  • What are your office hours?

Typically, I see clients during normal business hours, around 8 to 4. I also have lunch and evening hours available, if that would best meet your needs. It is my goal to make the care you need accessible to you!
